Diablo IV Season 15: Hell's Legacy Start Time and Mechanics
Season of Hell's Legacy began on 15 September 2026 as the 30th anniversary season. Here is the timeline and what carries over.

The current season is season 15, Season of Hell’s Legacy, live since 15 September 2026. It is also Diablo’s 30th anniversary season.
Blizzard has not announced an end date, so anything claiming one is guessing.
The two seasons on the timeline
| Season | Name | Start | Theme |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 15 | Season of Hell’s Legacy | 15 September 2026 | 30th anniversary, memories of the Prime Evils |
| Season 14 | Season of Death Awakening | 30 June 2026, 10:00 PT | The Death Cult and Pandemonium Ruptures |
Season 14 ended at the changeover on 15 September 2026 and its characters moved to Eternal. Solo Self Found, the Tower and Leaderboards were its headline changes; the recap is on the season 14 page.
What season 15 adds
- Soul Splinters. Gems tied to a demon or artefact, up to three socketed into jewellery. Strong bonuses with downsides attached, and the season’s central trade-off.
- Rebirth. Lets an existing hero start a fresh seasonal journey without creating a new character.
- The Horadric Post. A new reward structure that runs alongside the season objectives.
- Nine returning uniques. Messerschmidt’s Reaver, Stone of Jordan and Henri’s Perquisition among them. These are permanent additions available on both Seasonal and Eternal realms.
- Two new Horadric Cube recipes. For reshaping unwanted affixes while protecting the ones you want. One converts an item directly to Mythic quality and keeps every affix and upgrade.
- A larger season journey. Nine ranks and 125 objectives.
The seasonal questline follows three dark wanderers who returned from Pandemonium, each a former vessel of a Prime Evil, guided by the soul of Deckard Cain. Blizzard describes it as the legacy of Sanctuary’s darkest legends.
What carries over
- War Plans reputation: shared across characters in the same partition since season 15, and points earned on season 14 characters carried into Eternal at the changeover.
- Hardcore characters: only characters still alive at the end of a season can transfer War Plans points out. A dead Hardcore character needs another living character to walk through the changeover.
- Seasonal characters themselves: they move to Eternal when the season ends rather than disappearing.
What happened on launch day
Season 15’s launch did not go smoothly. Blizzard announced a delay on 15 September 2026 because of login problems, then said that evening the issue was resolved.
The sequence and player reactions are on the launch post-mortem. If you still cannot log in, use the code 34202 fix order.
What to do now
- If you want a fresh start, use Rebirth to bring an old character into the season, or roll a seasonal character.
- Push the campaign and the seasonal questline first. Adjust the build once Soul Splinters are in hand.
- On an account with several characters, keep an eye on the War Plans carry-over.
